Boddlers

Early year’s education and care for children 0 – 3 years

***Covid-19 Update – Boddlers is not running at the moment due to current guidelines, but we hope to be back as soon as possible!***

The Boddler session provides parents and carers with the opportunity of meeting others in a warm and friendly atmosphere, providing opportunity to form new friendships through the shared experience of caring for children. Our Boddler sessions run four times a week; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.30am-11am at Wigginton Recreation Hall. Looking after and caring for children is extremely rewarding but can also be a time when we appreciate having others around us who understand some of the challenges of the job, whether as a parent, grandparent, childminder or anyone else responsible for a child. Parents/carers remain with and are responsible for their children throughout the session.

Parents and carers are greeted by staff that are happy to see you and your child/children. The environment is planned to cater for the developmental needs of children and our staff are available to chat about any issues involved with caring for children, so please feel free to make use of their experience and knowledge of children. At an appropriate time during the session children are encouraged to come together for a drink and snack. This is an opportunity to rest and to share conversation with others around the table. If you child has any special requirements, please let us know.

Pre-School

Early year’s education and care for children 3 – 5 years

The pre-school offers educational childcare for children from three to five years of age using the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Staff at the pre-school want all our children to feel confident, valued and respected; understanding that this helps children develop into confident and independent learners.

The pre-school is based in the bungalow and sessions run from 9am to 12noon and 1pm to 3pm. Children can, numbers permitting, attend longer half days or full days , as there is the option to include lunch club sessions, which run between 12noon to 1pm or can be added to morning or afternoon sessions ie. 9am-1pm or 12noon-3pm. Each session has a maximum of 24 children and staff use the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to deliver a stimulating and play-based curriculum.

Out of School Club

Early year’s education and care for children 3 – 11 years

Our Out of School care covers breakfast, after school and holiday clubs. Our aim is to provide your child with a safe, happy and fun environment aimed to further develop them in their social, independent and confident learning as an extension to the standard school day or out of term time.

Breakfast club runs from 7.40am to 9.00am and after school club from 3.00 to 6.00pm during term time. We provide stimulating activities and resources, caring, supportive playworkers and lots of fun. Children are offered the opportunity to participate in creative/sports sessions, baking, craft and games, play on our games machines, watch appropriate films, sit quietly to read, relax with friends or use the I.T equipment. We also provide an area the children can use to do homework with reference/information books available.

After extending the number of Out of School Club places available in 2013 we now make use of Wigginton Primary School for children attending between the ages of 7 – 11.
